I offer a small number of manuscript assessments each month for writers working on longer pieces, including short story collections, novellas, novels, and works in progress.
This is a careful, attentive reading of your work, followed by a considered editorial response. Rather than focusing on line-by-line edits, I look at the piece as a whole: its shape, voice, pacing, and emotional movement, offering reflections that help you see what’s working, and where it might want to go next.
Each assessment includes a detailed editorial letter, which you can return to as you continue developing the work.
I take on just one manuscript each month, so that I can give each piece the time and attention it deserves.
This offering is for partial or shorter manuscript assessments (up to 30,000 words); if you have a full manuscript (between 80,000 to 100,000 words) please see here.
If your project sits outside these ranges, we can agree a fee based on length.
